Inside the White House #2

Here is another video, and to me the most shocking, of the White House insider videos. I did not expect the Situation room to look anything like what it does. I only ever had visions of President Bartlet's Sit Room.

Inside the White House Series

Once aspect that I've been enjoying with the Obama Administration's White House website, is their use of technology. My favorite, has been their "mini-series" of informative videos titled "Inside the White House." I enjoy the perspective of "VIP" access to normally tight guarded areas of life and business inside the White House.

This video is titled "The Cabinet."

$100 Billion for Phony Science?

I just have one question. When America is going through it's worse reception since the Great Depression, and billions of families and children all over the world are starving, and entire communities are being brutally executed, why in the HELL are we pledging to contribute to a fund of $100 Billion dollars for "man-made" global warming???????

FACT - DC received the most snow this weekend that it has in 7 years.

Unfortunately, this did not come to my attention until now. I am saddened that the RWU community, including RWU alumni, were not officially made aware of this tragic story. This past August, US Army 2nd Lt. Joseph Fortin was KIA in Iraq. Fortin was a member of the RWU Class of 2008.

Forget the War on Terror, we're in a War on Jihadis

This was shared by Marina Peterson.

A Year of Jihad in America
By; Christopher Holton
www.StanduUpAmericaUS.com

There is mounting evidence that the global Jihadist insurgency is fully
entrenched in the United States After the Fort Hood massacre news services
seem divided between those hell-bent-for-leather on denying that the Fort
Hood massacre was a case of anything other than a persecuted loner
"snapping" and those who proclaimed it the first "terrorist" attack on US
soil since September 11th.

This focus is wrong. Fort Hood was an act of Jihad and that's really all
that matters: It is essential that we find out how extensive Nidal Malik
Hasan's ties to other Jihadists were. Of this there can be no doubt.

But we must refrain from entering into a debate on what amounts largely to
semantics about whether or not the Fort Hood massacre was an act of
"terrorism." We need to get away from focusing on the term "terrorism"
anyway. Some observers still don't consider the 1983 Beirut Barracks bombing
by Hezbollah, which killed 241 Marines, sailors and soldiers, an act of
"terrorism" because, by some widely recognized definitions, attacks on
combatants cannot be termed "terrorism."

The Fort Hood massacre and the attack on the Marine Barracks were acts of
Jihad. The Jihadis themselves don't refer to themselves as "terrorists." But
they most assuredly refer to themselves as "Jihadis." We should let them own
that title.

This was never a war on "terrorism." Jihad is being waged against us and we
have tied ourselves in knots to deny that reality. Moreover, Fort Hood was
hardly the first act of Jihad on US soil since September 11th. A few
examples come to mind:

* The Anthrax Attacks (Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I do NOT buy the
official line on these attacks, but that's a subject for another time and
place.)
* The DC "Sniper" Shootings (There is a great deal of evidence that John
Mohammed carried out these attacks in the name of Allah.)
* The LAX Shooting at the El Al Ticket Counter

Note that whether the perpetrators are members of a previously known
terrorist organization (such as Al Qaeda) or were lone actors, these were
still acts of Jihad.

It is difficult to combat a shadowy organization like Al Qaeda, but it is
far more difficult to prevent "lone wolf" actors from attacking. Al Qaeda
may be difficult to infiltrate and gather intelligence on, but how do we
"infiltrate" a lone Jihadist?

This is symptomatic of a revolutionary Jihadist subculture metastasizing
within the American Muslim community, especially within its mosques and
organizations. This revolutionary subculture has produced an atmosphere in
which Muslims are inspired to act violently. This is a very dangerous and
volatile situation.

Over the last 12 months alone, we have been provided with a stack of
evidence of the Jihadist insurgency inside America. Americans have largely
ignored this evidence, or at least failed to "connect the dots." Seemingly
completely unrelated cases do in fact have common threads: they are acts of
Jihad.

I decided to go back and research examples of Jihad in America over the
last 12 months, roughly 1 December 2008 to 1 December 2009. Here is a list
of incidents, cases, actions, statements and plots which point to a Jihadist
insurgency in our midst (Keep in mind that insurgencies are both
civilizational/political and violent/militant.).

The list is compiled in reverse chronological order, meaning that the most
recent items are listed first. We no doubt left out some cases. I believe
that all of these cases and incidents brought together on a single listing
will prompt most readers to conclude that the magnitude of the threat we
face inside the United States is greater than they previously believed.

Deficit Spending....Dems Worried???

Democrats are worried about deficit spending....now? Yes, but with selectivity. With the question of funding a probably troop surge in Afghanistan, Democrats are now voicing concerns about the federal deficit and paying for the war. How much did they spend on the stimulus? How much do they plan to spend on Cap and Trade and Obamacare? Seems to me like a "way out" for Democrats who don't support a unpopular war. But yes, not only are Democrats hypocrits when it comes to deficit spending. Congressional Republicans during the Bush years weren't the fiscal conservatives they were...especially when it came to funding both Iraq and Afghanistan. But when the issues turn to health care reform and others, the federal deficit becomes their biggest argument. Point being, I don't like hypocrits.

Afghanistan War Upends Deficit Spending Debate

Sensible Commanders

While listening to Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, something hit me. A democrat made a good point. While I forget as I type which Senior Democratic Senator made the comment, I can't help but completely agree. The Senator took grasp of a recent GOP talking point regarding the possible troop surge in Afghanistan. The talking point being, that Republicans - Congressmen, party leaders, and pundits alike - are all criticizing President Obama for "not listening to General McCrystal." They plead that the President should listen and obey the wishes of his commander on the ground, because "he's knows best." While in this particular case I agree, I only agree to a certain degree. The point that the Democratic Senator whose name I forget made, was that the Commander in Chief should follow the advice of his military commander on the ground WHEN SENSIBLE. Lest we forget, that General McCarther was Truman's "commander on the ground" during Korea and advised the president to march into China and attack with nuclear weapons. Lest we forget, the importance of history?

New Polls Dim for Democrats

Some new polls released by Rasmussen on www.rasmussenreports.com show bleek figures for Democrats in Washington. The latest polls on health care reform reveal that only 38% of Americans now favor health care reform, while 56% oppose it. This is a new low.

The Rasmussen Presidential Tracking Poll also indicates that President Obama's approval rating is dismal. Having only been in office for almost 10 months, the new President is showing only a 46% total approval rating (only 26% strongly approve), and a 54% total disapproval rating (46% strongly disapprove). These new numbers could change as the Senate starts debate on healthcare reform and the President begins to tackle new policy issues such as Afghanistan and Climate Change.

Congressional Democrats seem to be sharing the sour moods of Americans in their poll numbers as well. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is polling only 33% favorable and 57% unfavorable, while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is polling a meager 25% favorable and 47% unfavorable.

MIKE PENCE FOR PRESIDENT!

Watch this guy. I've had the pleasure of seeing him speak and also wrote a research paper on him. Although I don't think his chances of a 2012 bid are all that good, keep an eye on him for the future. I think he we wants to seriously consider a run for president, he needs to put himself in a "leadership" role. Run for governor, run for senate, or take on a leadership role in the House. Don't quote me on this, but I don't believe that a Representative has ever been elected straight to the White House. Interesting fellow though.

More Than a Two-Party System in the US?

This is an interesting article posted on TheHill.com. It goes on to explain the idea's behind a possible three party system amidst the political atmosphere in the United States today. This is a thought that has come up often in political discussion of the late 20th and early 21st century - mainly due to the rise in registered "Independent" or "Non-Affiliate" voters. Many discredit claims that there will ever be a multi-party system in the United States, due to the fact that our political environment and governing bodies don't allow more than a two party system...organizationally speaking. I believe this to be true.

However, what I believe hasn't been assessed strongly enough is the rise of other factions or caucuses within the Democratic and Republican parties that exist today. For example, the Tea Party movement has given way to increased in "conservative Republicans." In the recent congressional special election of New York's 23 district, the Republican party was forced to nominate the Conservative Party candidate. We've seen a division of the Democratic Party in congress the last 6 months or so, due mostly to the ideological differences of traditional liberal-Democrats and fiscally conservative "Blue Dogs." This past summer, talk show host and political pundit Rush Limbaugh stated, when speaking about the division of Democratic Party amongst the Blue Dogs and Liberals, "We will see the MOTHER of ALL political battles ahead of us." Forget an Independent Party. The better question is, will we see the introduction of a new "Conservative Democrat Party" or the re-introduction of a "Conservative Party?"

Likely the answer is no. The long established Republican and Democrat Parties are far to powerful to allow factions among them. It is not in their better interest, and their leaders will stress for unification. For example, this is quite possible what defined Ronald Reagan. He re-united the Republican Party by bringing together moderates and conservatives.

But who really knows? What do you think?

These People are Running America?!

While I'm not going to defend, nor deny, President Bush and his infamous "Bush-isms," but take a look at what our current leaders have to say:

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed, he said 'look, here's what happened.'" - Vice President Joe Biden

FDR was not President when the stock market crashed, and television had not yet been invented.

"It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There's a lot of - I don't know what the term is in Austrian - wheeling and dealing..." - President Barack Obama

Austrian isn't a language, it is a country. Austrians speak German.

"If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong." - Vice President Joe Biden

"Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lost their jobs." - Speaker Nancy Pelosi

At the of this comment, there were only 300 million Americans.

"Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go." - President Barack Obama

Need I say anything?

High Five to 6 House Dems

I read a very interesting article earlier this month on TheHill.com (a source everyone should read daily in my opinion), concerning a "read-the-bill" measure put forth by 6 House Democrats. The measure, technically a rule of the U.S. House, would mandate a 72-hour grace period between the finalized version of proposed legislation, and an actual floor vote. According to the article, similar rules have existed in several congresses in the last few decades. However, including countless times in the current congress, the rule has been waived because of loopholes. Even Republicans in the past have waived this much needed transparency rule...shame on them. I applaud these 6 democrats, and urge everyone to tell their representatives that they support this rule and should read this article.

RE: The Republican "Mob"

Dear Madame Speaker,

I am outraged. I am saddened. I am hurt. I am ashamed. I am fed up with the name calling and "blame-game" tactics going on in Washington. I am a Republican. I have been for the last four years since I registered following my 18th birthday. I am a Republican not because it may seem like the cool thing to do, or because I want to play rebel, but because of my principles. I am a hardworking American. I was a hardworking student. I pay my taxes. I obey the laws of my country. I honor and deeply admire those who serve. Yet, the rhetoric coming from Washington has finally led me to be thoroughly angry with this nations leadership.

The recent accusations from the Democratic Party, the Democratic Congressional leadership, and the Democratic Administration has first and foremost offended me. I have attended some town halls, and some tea party rallies, and wrote to my congressmen, and made the phone calls. I have participated in engagement activities and read the news. I am an engaged citizen and I have obeyed every civil and moral law while doing so. Yet, I am, simply as a Republican, being accused of being part of a Mob? I assure you, Madame Speaker, concerned, active, and engaged Americans like myself are no mob. We are frustrated Americans. Frustrated because we see no accountability. We see no intelligent action from Washington. For example, at a time when one of the most pressing and dangerous pieces of legislation is about to be voted on in Congress, Representatives and Senators are refusing to schedule public forums to listen to their constituents concerns. Why are representatives of your House hiding?

As conservatives, we are being labeled as potential domestic terrorists! According to a Department of Homeland Security memo, young Americans like myself (which has never had more than measly speeding violation) were labeled as potential home-grown terrorists! Why was this report so biased? Why was the Department of Homeland Security not issuing memo's on potential liberal domestic terrorists? Why are AMERICAN citizens the subject of possible domestic terrorists threats!? Hundreds of thousands of Republicans/Americans/Conservatives like myself have demonstrated, engaged ourselves, and participated peacefully. By the way, the very 1st Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees organized demonstration.

More recently, individual Republicans like myself have been called Nazis. You referred to Americans yourself as Nazis and this came from the Democratic National Committee, "the repeated use of Nazi symbolism at community meetings by the Republican incited mob proves that these protests have nothing to do with health care, but rather that the Republican party is willing to sink to the lowest, most despicable levels to accomplish their goal of 'breaking' President Obama." Madame Speaker, I am not a Nazi. I am an American.

Madame Speaker, as a constituent of the house you lead, I am asking you to fore go the name calling and seemingly squeamish tactics to find blame for a rising unpopular health care reform plan. Quite frankly it is tasteless and shameful. I should not expect a national figure, from either party, to stoop to such a level and continue their disregard for the hardworking people of this country. In your own words, in regards to the outcry of disapproval towards the Iraq War, you encouraged protesters to take advantage of their 1st Amendment rights to the fullest. You encouraged dissent and described it as democracy in action. Speaker Pelosi, you were right. This is democracy in action. So why then are you being so hypocritical?

I hope that you will fully understand my pleadings and take them into consideration. I am not a piece of AstroTurf, Madame Speaker. I am a real American.

Cordially,

Press Discovers that Obama Transparency is Diluted!

Even the liberal media has begun to openly criticize the Obama White House for its so called "transparency;" something that conservatives and some Republicans have been consistently pointing out. Following the fall-out from last week's staged question during President Obama's press conference, reporters Chip Reid and the legendary Helen finally point out the hypocracy of the Obama administration. Although in a rather "elitist attitude" that some members of the press have, the questions that are asked of Press Secretary Gibbs are exactly the questions that media outlets everywhere need to be focusing on.

It seems that even the White House isn't subject the 1st Amendment. D-Day 65 Year Anniversary

Please take a moment to remember the sacrifice that thousands of American, Canadian, and British forces made 65 years ago.

The number that died on D-Day is still not certain. The total figure is estimated to be between 4000-9000 people dead. These soldiers faced certain death. They still gathered the strength and courage to do the impossible. They stormed the beach. If not for their sacrifice Hitler's control of Europe could have lasted indefinitely.

The bravery, the strength, and the sheer love for our country guided these soldiers. Honor them in your prayers. Honor them in your thoughts. But most of all, honor them in your hearts.

God Bless the men and women in our Armed Forces.

Americans Favor Cheney Over Pelosi

A recent Gallup Poll shows that the American people favor Dick Cheney more then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Gallup Poll

This poll shows that while the American people disapprove of both Cheney and Pelosi, having only 37% and 34% favorable ratings, respectively, they favor Cheney more then Pelosi.

It looks as if the American people are sick of the two fighting. They continued to show boat and argue over the release of CIA documents pertaining to EITs and the American people have had enough.

It is time for Pelosi to admit she was wrong and get back to doing her job, or resign.

Gaspee Day Tea Party!

The Tax Day Tea Party was a great success around the country. Hundreds of thousands of people stood up for their values and expressed their concern with the outrageous spending habits of this new administration. But the movement cannot end there. On June 10th at 4:00pm speak up again! Come to the State House and speak your mind. We must let our officials know that we are still here and we still care.

Student Impact Fee - Clarification from Providence Mayor

Mayor David Cicilline had a press conference today to announce the final details of the "student impact fee" legislation being put before the House. The new details outline that the schools will be charged for every full time student they have registered, instead of taxing the students directly. The idea, as Mayor Cicilline discussed on the Helen Glover Show today, is that these schools can distribute these costs however they want. So for instance the school can absorb this "fee" with their endowments or by attaching the fee to students tuition. There are some problems with this new idea.

Now that the school is given the opportunity to distribute these fees however they want, who do you think is going to pay them? Not only the out-of-state students, thats for sure. Every student, whether they live in Bristol, Tiverton, or California is going to have to pay extra money for this fee.

Why are these schools tax-exempt? Now that they are being charged a fee for every student does that remove this status? What are you going to do with the tax-exempt hospitals? Tax the emergency room patients? Tax the intensive care patients? Just a few questions I would have liked to ask the good Mayor of Providence today at the press conference he had.

Legislators of Rhode Island, I would like to tell you just one thing: Don't blame your mistakes and fiscal irresponsibility on the students of these colleges. Don't talk about "responsibility" and how these students have to be responsible and pay extra taxes. How about you be responsible and balance a budget? How about you be responsible and do what your elected to do, run the state. Not into the ground, we do know you do that well, but in the right direction.

I urge everyone to go to the State House on June 10th to protest this fiscal irresponsibility and to say to these legislators, we've had enough. Enough of your blame game. Enough of your hypocritical talk of responsibility. Enough of your getting re-elected every cycle while we, as a state, continue to spiral downward.

Student Impact Fee - RI Legislators Seek to Tax Students

Projo Article

Gordon Fox, House Majority Leader in Rhode Island, D-Providence, is sponsoring legislation aimed at assessing a "student user fee" for private colleges in Rhode Island. This fee, the brainchild of Providence Mayor David Cicilline, would be distributed to the "host communities" for the students use of municipal services.

What the leaders of this state do not realize is that the students that go to the private colleges and universities are economic powerhouses in the state. All students do is spend, spend, spend. They order pizza, buy goods from local convenience stores, they shop at grocery stores, they get coffee, they buy alcohol, you name it they spend money on it. Roger Williams University alone contributes a large sum of money to the RIPTA to give every freshman student a bus pass.

And what about those students who rent houses? They are paying property taxes through their rent, why should they pay more. And the public schools? URI, RIC, CCRI wouldn't have to pay this $300 annual fee. Sorry Cicilline but not every URI student lives in RI.

This bill also neglects to mention anything about private high schools. These high schools have people coming from out of state, why aren't they being taxed?

These students, who do not live in the state, do not get a chance to vote for a representative in the House or the Senate or for the Mayor or for the Governor. Why should they be taxed, by these officials, when they do not have representation within any branch of the Rhode Island government.

No Taxation Without Representation - the very reason our founding father's fought for our freedom.

King George Cicilline - leave us kids alone, stop spending outrageous amounts of money and putting the city into debt. Stop your police officers from driving around the state in police vehicles, using taxpayer gas. Be responsible, for our sake.

Janeane Garofalo Calls Republicans "Tea Bagging Rednecks"

Janeane Garofalo, renowned actress, calls all right-wingers and Republicans racist and says conservatism is, "a neurological disorder." And did you know all black Republicans have Stockholm syndrome? This is even more outrageous then calling out the Tea Parties as right-wing extremism and having "Don't Tread on Me" flags making you a militia member.

What is happening America?

Bush and Bush

Of course, who can forget the 2006 White House Press Correspondents Dinner. This was by far the funniest thing President Bush has ever done, and I think this dinner got more laughs and applause from the audience than did President Obama's.

Don't be shy to laugh to face off.

2009 WH Correspondents Dinner

This past weekend President Barack Obama hosted his first White House Press Correspondents dinner. Members of the beltway, the Hollywood elite, and top politicians all attended the dinner. However, President Obama surely did not hit a homerun with year's dinner. He started off alright with his little joke about the every member of the Press voting for him. How sad. He told a really awful joke about Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, of which garnered awkward attention from the audience. Now, I do applaud him for not using his teleprompter....but maybe that would have helped? Moving on, there was more hesitated laughter when he joked about heading to Iowa and marrying Senior Advisor David Axlerod. President Obama of all people should know that in the presence of the Media, you must always be politically correct. He did lighten up a little bit halfway through, and told what I believe was his most humorous joke of the night when mentioning to GOP Chairman Michael Steele that the Republican Party cannot have a bailout and that Rush Limbaugh didn't qualify as a troubled asset. Now, I love my party and enjoy listening to Rush, but you can't deny that wasn't at least a little funny. More remarkably, President Obama got almost no reaction or laughter when joking about former Vice President Cheney. Towards the end of his "act," President Obama touched on some more humorous rhetoric that also received warm welcomes from the audience when talking about Hillary Clinton and Arlene Spector. Nice job Mr. President.

Unfortunately, the bombshell of the evening was Ms. Wanda Sykes. I was so disappointed. In the movies that Ms. Sykes has appeared in, I liked her work. But at the dinner, the gloves came off and she tanked. You'll even find that the White House will mostly begin to distance themselves after her remarks. I mean, come on. Poking fun at someone is harmless, but wishing them to die is just plain unacceptable.

Good luck next year Mr. President.

Ohio Man Testifies in Front of Election Board

Ohio man testifies in front of Ohio Election Board that ACORN registered him to vote 18 times. When he told ACORN employees he was already registered they told him to register anyway.

ACORN Natl Spokesman Scott Levenson Sidesteps Fraud Questions

"We had a bad employee." Scott Levenson, national spokesman for ACORN, said recently on the Glenn Beck Program. He went on to say, "[voter registration fraud] is not what we were charged with."

Well Scott, what were the ACORN employees charged with? According to the Pittsburg Post Gazette ACORN employees were charged with 51 counts of voter fraud in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania alone. The Las Vegas Sun reported that ACORN employees were charged with 21 counts of voter fraud AND 13 counts from compensating voter registrations, both felonies.

The FBI is currently investigating ACORN in 13 states nation wide.

Scott Levenson, check your numbers then get back to us.

Mark Zaccaria Salutes College Republicans

Mark Zaccaria, candidate for US Congress in 2008, gave a short speech to members of the CRFRI at our annual convention today. "You are the one percenters of today," he said. "You will be knocking on doors and handing out literature every two years for the rest of your lives. And all of that is just how you get started as a one percenter."

Zaccaria talked about how the College Republicans are the next wave of candidates for every position starting at the local level and farther beyond. "..and when you get there you will count on the CRs to pass out the literature and make the phone calls."

"There is more to it then just process."

Mark laid out the necessity of a clear, coherent, and intelligent message for the Republican Party to get back in power.

College Republicans Are the Strongest Part of the Republican Party

Dr. Chris Ottiano, 2008 Republican candidate for Rhode Island State Senate, told the members of the CRFRI that he is nothing more then "a citizen and a tax payer." A physician, husband, and father thanked the College Republicans for all their support and work during his campaign.

Dr. Ottiano showed his concern for where the Republican Party stands today in politics. He outlined how we can changed the sentiment towards the party starting with the grass roots. "College Republicans aren't just a free source of labor," he said, They are "seeds in the forest." As a taxpayer and a voter Dr. Ottiano is extremely optimistic about the College Republicans and their role in Politics both in Rhode Island and around the country.

"You are the strongest part of the Republican Party."

CRFRI Convention Kicks Off With Viewing of 33 Minutes

As the CRFRI convention began today the First Vice Chairman, Barry Lucier, started a short clip of 33 Minutes, a movie about America's susceptibility to a nuclear strike.

What if a nuclear warhead exploded above the World Trade Center instead of a plane? It would only take about 33 minutes to be hit by an ICBM(Inter Continental Ballistic Missile). Are we safe?

Obama mocks Tea Party

Obama takes a wack at the Tea Party, mocking the protesters at a town hall meeting in St. Louis. I guess his handlers didn't tell him that he isn't campaigning anymore.
